Dogs Who Swim
Well, the weather is heating up and summer is not far away. We love going swimming ourselves, and take any chance we can get to hit the beach. Gracie LOVES a good swim too. She doesn’t hold back! When we go down to the water she is straight in. She loves to jump and frolic through the water like a tiny pony (that what she looks like to me anyway!).
We like to head down to the water with Gracie as much as we can in summer. Swimming is such a healthy way to exercise your dog, and is really quite soothing and relaxing for them too, not to mention it’s also great to cool down in hot weather!
I like to mix it up and visit a few different swimming spots for dogs. Manly lagoon is great because there’s heaps of space and the water is often shallow with lots of sandbanks so the dogs can sprint through the shallow water which looks like heaps of fun. Then there’s North Harbour Reserve/ Forty Baskets which is a bit of a favourite, we don’t always swim there but we have a lovely walk by the water. The other great spot is Clontarf dog beach – oh my what a beautiful outlook with all the boats in Middle Harbour! We LOVE doing the Manly to Shelly Walk with Gracie and the kids, and we will always stop when we reach Shelly for some beach exploration time with the kids and Gracie has a little sniff in the sand whilst she waits for us. There are so many fantastic places around us to explore with your dog and swim or just splash on the edge.
